Conor Oberst to release solo album
Bright Eyes frontman Conor Oberst has confirmed details of his first solo album in 12 years, which will be released through Merge Records.
The self-titled release will be out on 5 August and was recorded in January and February in Tepoztlan, Mexico.
Oberst is backed on the album by the Mystic Valley Band, whom he will tour with this autumn. The members of the band have not been named and the record was produced by Oberst himself.
Oberst released his first solo album in 1996. Soundtrack to My Movies came out on cassette when he was a teenager.
His forthcoming album is his first not to be released in the US on Saddle Creek, the Omaha, Nebraska label with which he's been associated since he began recording in the early '90s.
Oberst and the Mystic Valley Band have announced four live dates this autumn at the Reading and Leeds Festivals (Aug 22, 24), Electric Picnic (Aug 31) and the Austin City Limits festival (Sept 27).
