Free Coldplay track well-received

Coldplay fans have reacted positively to the band's new single, 'Violet Hill', which was released as a free download yesterday.

The single is the first from the band's forthcoming new album 'Viva La Vida or Death And All His Friends', which is released on 12 June. It was made available as a free download for one week only on www.coldplay.com

Posting on the band's Facebook and Myspace sites, has seen positive feedback from fans to the Brian Eno produced track, which is marked by a harder, more experimental sound.

However, some fans encountered technical difficulties as they tried to download the track.

A spokesman for the band said of the problems on the group's website: "There was a little glitch at the start; it has frozen a couple of times. Lots of people have downloaded it."
